【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheamountofcarbonresidue(seeNote1)formedafterevaporationandpyrolysisofpetroleummaterialsundercertainconditionsandisintendedtoprovidesomeindicationoftherelativecokeformingtendencyofsuchmaterials.ThetestresultsareequivalenttotheConradsonCarbonResiduetest(seeTestMethodD189).Thisprocedureisamodificationoftheoriginalmethodandapparatusforcarbonresidueofpetroleummaterials,whereithasbeendemonstratedthatthermogravimetryisanotherapplicabletechnique.However,itistheresponsibilityoftheoperatortoestablishoperatingconditionstoobtainequivalentresultswhenusingthermogravimetry.Thistestmethodisapplicabletopetroleumproductsthatpartiallydecomposeondistillationatatmosphericpressureandwastestedforcarbonresiduevaluesof0.10to30%(m/m).Samplesexpectedtobebelow0.10weight%(m/m)residueshouldbedistilledtoremove90%(V/V)oftheflaskcharge(seeSection).The10%bottomsremainingisthentestedforcarbonresiduebythistestmethod.Ash-formingconstituents,asdefinedbyTestMethodD482,ornon-volatileadditivespresentinthesamplewilladdtothecarbonresiduevalueandbeincludedaspartofthetotalcarbonresiduevaluereported.Alsoindieselfuel,thepresenceofalkylnitrates,suchasamylnitrate,hexylnitrate,oroctylnitrate,causesahighercarbonresiduevaluethanobservedinuntreatedfuel,whichmayleadtoerroneousconclusionsastothecoke-formingpropensityofthefuel.ThepresenceofalkylnitrateinthefuelmaybedetectedbyTestMethodD4046.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetypracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
